Letter to Timothy Pickering, [manuscript] 25 March 1796.

Monroe discusses Franco-American relations. He describes a recent meeting with the Directoire and reports he was able to allay concerns about the United States's position in regard to French emigres. He also notes the resignations of Pichegru and Clairfait and reports unfavorably on an issuance of paper money.
